Unemployment Insurance for Freezone Employees

Unemployment Insurance for Freezone Employees

How to enroll in Unemployment Insurance for workers in UAE’s freezones.

If you are employed in a freezone or semi-governmental organization in the UAE, you are now eligible to apply for the Unemployment Insurance Scheme, also known as Involuntary Loss of Employment (ILOE).

Although the scheme was initially only available to Emiratis and expatriates working full-time in federal and private sectors, Dubai Insurance, the company responsible for managing the ILOE Insurance Pool, announced on May 3rd through their official social media accounts that freezone employees and those working for semi-government entities are now eligible to apply for the scheme as well.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) stated certain eligibility conditions for workers to receive cash compensation under the ILOE scheme during its initial announcement. The Unemployment Insurance Scheme (ILOE) allows eligible workers to receive a salary equal to 60 per cent of their basic salary for up to three months in case of job loss.

You can follow below Steps to Enroll yourself for the Unemployment Insurance:-

1. Visit the website www.iloe.ae.
2. Click on the red button titled, ‘Subscribe Here’.
3. You will then be transferred to the ILOE application portal. Next, under the ‘Individual’ category select the ‘non-registered in MOHRE’ option.
4. Next, enter your Emirates ID or UID number (Unified Identification Number) as well as your mobile number and click on ‘Request OTP’ (One-time password).
6. Enter the OTP you receive, after which you will be redirected to your ILOE dashboard, where you can select your ILOE plan, as the scheme allows you to pay the premium on a monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, or annual basis.

How to avail ILOE insurance?

Employees can avail ILOE insurance by subscribing through various channels such as the ILOE portal and mobile application, Al Ansari Exchange, kiosk machines, C3Pay app and card, and MOHRE service centres. Employers can also enroll their employees in the scheme with mutual agreement and with the cost of the insurance borne by the employee.

How does ILOE work?

ILOE provides cash compensation to eligible workers who involuntarily lose their jobs. The compensation is calculated at the rate of 60% of the basic salary and is given for a maximum of three months from the date of unemployment. The scheme is intended to provide a financial safety net for those who experience job loss.

How can I get ILOE certificate online?

The ILOE certificate can be obtained online through the ILOE portal or mobile application. Once subscribed, users can log in to their accounts and download the certificate.

How to claim Dubai insurance for unpaid salary?

Dubai Insurance offers an unpaid salary insurance policy, which can be claimed if an employer fails to pay the employee's salary for more than 30 days. The policy can be availed by subscribing through various channels such as the Dubai Insurance website, Al Ansari Exchange, or through a broker. The claims can be made by submitting the necessary documents and following the procedures outlined by Dubai Insurance.
